HubPages for traffic building

Note: We no longer recommend HubPages. Use Squidoo instead.

HubPages are a free hosting service for your article or your landing page (i.e. single page).

The developers of HubPages claim that you can do the following:

  • Publish Easily: Publish online with easy to use, non-techie tools
  • Get Traffic: Be widely read thanks to a large, active community
  • Make Money: Create ongoing royalty opportunities

Of course from an SEO perspective, getting more traffic is key.

Here is an example of a HubPages on web page monitoring.

Important Note: We no longer recommend HubPages for traffic building or for SEO purposes. The operators of HubPages play a lot of games which undermines the hard work of many publishers. The operators of HubPages will delete your article for no apparent reason and keep all of the inbound links that you have generated in promoting your Hubs. Even more dastardly is that they will devalue your HubScore over time so that your backlinks to your website or promoted content change to no follow.

Squidoo is our current alternative. But this too can change at some point in the future. Bottom line is that you really have to monitor your articles and if they are unpublished, then you should access the Google or Bing cache to recover your content and then republish someplace else. Preferably on your own blog or website.

You should also be sure to archive all of your comments on your HubPages. We now have a way to archive your HubPages comments and repost/syndicate them to your WordPress blog. Again bottom line is backup your HubPages to your hard drive and have a plan in place for when they delete your HubPages. Because it is our experience that they will do it eventually.
